Prelube

An Engine Prelubrication system on larger engines protects all critical bearing journals before each engine start. Some engine manufacturers list a prelube system as mandatory equipment for certain engines and recommend them for others but any large engine will benefit from the protection that can only be achieved by ensuring oil is protecting critical bearing surfaces before the engine begins to move. Prelube is especially important after engine service that includes an oil or filter change. A single dry bearing start will lead to progressive bearing failure that will lead to overhaul. Prelube is a low-cost insurance policy for your critical engines.
